PAT Testing Services

PAT testing (Portable Appliance Testing) is the examination of portable electrical equipment and devices which contain a plug to ensure they are safe to use. A lot of the time, safety defects are visual and can be spotted easily. However, sometimes this is not the case and faults can only be found by testing the equipment.

If electrical appliance testing is not carried out, the defect could then cause danger to the individual using the equipment, or even the whole building should it start a fire.

Ensure your Portable Appliances are Safe

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 puts the duty of care on both the employer and employee to ensure the safety of all persons using the premises. This includes self-employed people. This gives everyone a degree of responsibility in the workplace, to take reasonable steps in ensuring that no danger results from the use of any portable appliance.

With electrical equipment becoming more advanced all the time and with there being such a range of portable appliances, it is important now more than ever that all portable electrical appliances are PAT tested to minimise the risk of injury or danger.

Prevent Electrical Accidents at Work

The level of inspection and testing required depends on the nature of the appliance and how likely it is to become faulty. The environment in which an appliance is used can also have an effect on the efficiency of the device. The requirement for a PAT test on a portable appliance is dependent on the guidelines provided by the insurer.

At Fire Guard Services, safety is of the utmost importance to us and we believe in keeping the workplace as safe as possible. We offer on-site PAT testing services all around Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
